collaboration

LandMind is a metaphorical short name to a collaborative concept for a 24hr non-profit “community center” (in the entire context of the words). A big and ambitious dream, but imagine the impact a facility would have on a community if it offered all, access to the major essentials for growth throughout one’s existence; creativity, activity, education & health, completely volunteer/donation based, self-sustainable and low environmental impact complexes spread across the globe.

The ideal LandMind would be considered a giant Earthship* campus, comprised of space for accommodating many aspects of the arts, education, exercise and agriculture. Meaning that it would be comprised of, but not limited to personal/communal studios, sports training space/arenas, community gardens/restaurant and gathering space. The materials for such a place could be donated by the manufacturers of the material as a tax write off, promotion for their product and sustainability.

*Earthship- a self-sustainable structure designed to reduce our impact on the planet and increase our connection to it by utilizing recycled and low embodied energy materials, passive solar heating and cooling, photovoltaic power system, catchwater, solar hot water, gray water and black water treatment systems. Basically its own ecosystem, with the right tools it could grow bananas year round next to your kitchen.
The facility would be open to all upon agreement and compliance with a code of ethics and requirement for use. In order to gain access or become a member one must donate or contribute in some way to receive “credits” (an entire system that has yet to be determined).

The main goal of the LandMind is to offer a community an outlet to grow and enjoy its existence in a manor that is healthy, respectful and positive. A place where people of all character and interest are active and equal. To eventually one day become a chain where facilities are available and customized to every community, each would benefit from the other and offer a hostel-like accommodation for traveling artists, athletes and educators.

The pilot LandMind will be a collaborative effort within a community                   (Jackson, WY/Victor, ID) with citizens already committed to contribute to such a cause by offering their resources as soon as a space becomes available.

A Breakdown of the ideal vision and potential, the multiple spaces to accommodate what the community around the LandMind desires to have offered. Intended to become a chain of such “centers” in communities around the globe, each to benefit from the other, taking full advantage of technology.
